Pregnancy is a time when people run everywhere looking for all the new accessories and important items required for the coming of their new child. One needs to stock up on blankets, diapers, medicine, build a new room, create space for the child to sleep, buy it’s clothes, find a good paediatrician, read the necessary literature about having a child and also buy toys and baby food. It is the beginning of a whole new life, especially for those who are experiencing the joys of parenting for the first time. In the rush of getting everything ready for one’s new child and the new life one wishes to lead with this new addition to the family, the matter of getting the appropriate pregnant clothes slips out of mind, until that very day when one realises that the clothes one is already stocked up with are highly unsuitable for the next few months.

Where do you get pregnant clothes?
Finding pregnant clothes
Pregnant clothes are not always that easy to locate, even if one lives in a big city. Some cities, especially big metropolitan centres have shops that specialise in the making and selling of pregnant clothes, but these shops are not always that easy to come by. One can always make a search online and look for appropriate clothing shops that have the facility of home delivery. Online catalogues for these shops may be browsed through and the chosen design ordered in the specified measurements. Indian women often stick to saris and salwar suits as these are the most readily available maternity clothes for them. A salwar suit can be easily tailored right in one’s neighbourhood. Any required alterations in the dress can also be performed at the same shop.

Maternity clothes, knitted woollen wear and especially the clothes for the children were all tailored at home. Items of clothing such as sarees, dhotis and shawls which required special weaving apparatuses were bought, for a sewing machine would not help in such cases. Read the rest of this entry »
